My fall comprehensive studio offers a unique opportunity to design a high-rise hotel in Panama City, Panama. I jumped on the opportunity as I had yet to craft something so large and well was also intrigued by the challenge of hospitality design. This studio was also a treat as it was a chance for interior designers and architecture students to team up.
Below is a presentation of our initial schematic design. Our concept focused on creating a gesture between two major geographical features of the area, Ancon Hill and the Canal. To do that we created a large transparent axis that allowed you to see through and too either direction. This acknowledged the complex history between the native Panamanians and the many transplants which have graced its shores. Our wish is that our hotel provides a luxurious experience to anyone who visits.
